Project Update

Despite progress being hampered by unexpectedly poor ground conditions, work along Meadowhall Road is in full swing and brick cladding is now being added to the new flood defence wall at the upstream end. Construction of  reinforced concrete bases and walls is ongoing.  Weekend work is being undertaken to increase productivity and will continue as required to mitigate further delays.

The existing traffic management arrangements along Meadowhall Road are expected to remain in place until late October at which point they will be scaled back.

Elsewhere, the majority of flood defence works are complete with just a few sections outstanding and finishing works being carried out.

The programme to treat and manage invasive species along the river is continuing and volunteers are helping to pull Himalayan Balsam on Tuesday volunteering sessions which have been very well supported in recent weeks by corporate teams alongside regular volunteers. Today the team were out along the river at Nursery Street supported by a voluntary team from the Environment Agency and were clearing the footpath, picking litter, and pulling Balsam along the river bank.
