project update

Construction of the flood defences is almost finished with completion set for late December. Work continues along the upstream section of Meadowhall Road to finish construction of the wall and to complete the addition of brickwork and copings. The footpath is in the process of being rebuilt and preparations are underway for the installation of a flood gate. The car park on the FA/Sharp Consultancy site is being reinstated in preparation for handover. Once all work is complete, traffic management will be removed and lanes will be back to standard width.

A piece of work is outstanding at Riley’s Tools and there are some finishing works at Sanderson’s Goyt to reinstate the wall and gate on site. Work on the opening along Weedon Street is now complete so the footpath has been reopened.

Volunteers continue to turn out each week in high numbers to work in and along the river clearing litter and debris and managing overgrown vegetation.
